NH ODP Coach Job Description

A New Hampshire Olympic Development Program State Team Head Coach will complete the following duties in an ODP season (from November through the following July), including but not limited to the following:
  • Faithfully adhere to the "NHSA Coach's Code of Ethics" and all NHSA policies.
  • Conduct competitive, developmentally appropriate and FUN training sessions in accordance with the ODP curriculum.
  • Clearly communicate all expectations and goals with players, parents, and administrators; and promptly personally notify all players of selections and/or cuts from the State Team.
  • Preside over and be present for Registration/Tryout sessions in November.
  • Preside over and be present for all training and/or scrimmage-match sessions for their State Team, including but not limited to: two sessions a month in December, January, February and March (typically every other Sunday); and one session a week in April, May, June and July (typically Mondays for girls and Wednesdays for boys, and one Saturday a month).
  • Preside over their State Team and be present for the New England ODP Jamboree in April.
  • Preside over their State Team and be present for the Region 1 tournament in June.
  • Preside over their State Team and be present for the Region 1 Camp in July.
  • Scout and recruit New Hampshire club players for their State Team age group throughout the NH ODP season, and at least one day a month from December through the following June, and submit a summary report (see format) of that scouting session to the NH ODP State Director of Coaching; and develop communication with club coaches of the players in their age group.
  • Attend all NH ODP Coaching Staff meetings, including: a pre-tryout organizational meeting in November; a winter-training organizational meeting in January; a spring/summer-training organizational meeting at the NHSA Annual General Meeting; and any other meetings as designated by the NH ODP State Director of Coaching.
  • Preside over the NHSA ODP Youth Clinics at the NHSA Annual General Meeting.
  • Preside over at least two other NHSA player clinics as assigned and scheduled by the NH ODP State Director of Coaching.
  • Appoint an Assistant Coach, to be approved by the NH ODP State Director of Coaching.
  • Organize all administrative duties for their State Team, including the appointment of a team Parent Administrator to submit rosters, collect fees, distribute uniforms, collect Medical Release and Code-of-Conduct forms, assist with financial aid, maintain team records, preside over Region 1 Tournament and Camp travel, and attend to any other team administrative details.
  • Forward all State Team correspondence to the NH ODP State Director of Coaching.
  • Submit a mid-season report in April, and an end-of-season report by July 31st (see formats) to the NH ODP State Director of Coaching.
  • Complete a player evaluation (see format) for every player who has trained for a significant amount of time with their State Team, and submit one copy of that evaluation to the player, and one copy to the NH ODP State Director of Coaching.
  • Pursue professional development and/or coaching education opportunities whenever possible, including but not limited to Region1 Symposiums, NSCAA and USSF Conventions, and the attainment of the highest USSF Coaching license possible.
  • Follow the process of NH ODP Coach evaluation in conjunction with the NH ODP State Director of Coaching.
