Youth Competitive Meeting Report - November 17, 2007

On November 17th, 2007, a competitive meeting was held to go over the recently held NHSA Fall Tournament All parties present were at the tournament so it was felt representation was sufficient and well perceived and unbiased. The level of play was said to be outstanding and well officiated. The format of play was one suggested by the GSYSL and well received. The complex was a neutral facility and in excellent condition. It was felt that the divisions of the games were well matched and should stay as is in the future. A suggestion was made to have a round robin event in the fall for all teams in the GSYSL DI, which are interested and include all teams playing in out of state NH recognized leagues. Teams that play in the round robin would not play in the GSYSL fall play-off for DI. The winner of the round robin would play the winner of the GSYSL DI play-off, for the GSYSL Challenge in the NHSA Fall Tournament. This would eliminate all concerns as to who the DIV I teams would play and would give all of the NH teams that play out of state a fair chance at competing in the Fall Tournament and produce a fairer playing field for all concerned.

State Cup Championships were discussed and dates decided. These dates will stay the same from year to year. Registrations for both the State Cup Championships and Youth Open Cup will be January 15, 2008 for online registrations. Entry fees for both Cup Tournaments will be due January 22, 2008. Teams that are late will be fined. Teams will be required to supply volunteers State Cup Championship Round Robin will take place on the week ends of May 3&4, May 10&11, May 17&18, 2008. Looking to having schedule for games before or by March 1, 2008. Finals will be held on Sunday June 1, 2008, at the Continental Recreation Park, West Rd. Londonderry.

Youth Open Cup was decided to go back to a single elimination, due to feedback received. Team play will be decided by a draw, with the higher seed being the home team and having to supply the field. Referees would be provided by the NHSA SYRA with a 72 hour notification of game. Teams will go back to deciding on the date they will play and reporting back to the cup director. These games will be able to be played during the week and should help with the field & referee availability, and give teams a full length game. All preliminary games will be completed by May 18, 2008. Semi finals will be done by May 31, 2008, with the finals being held on June 7, 2008. At this time we are looking at holding the final games at the NEAC Complex in Pembroke.

Referees fees were discussed and decided for the competitive tournaments. U12 SS would be 30/20; U12-U14 would be 40/20; U15 and above would be 50/25. It was suggested that at the U14 and below the substitution should be in and out. At the U15 and above they should hold back the player going on the field until the player coming off is almost to the side, to keep consistent with regional play.
